Why are some tourists charged a tax when entering Chile?

This is the reciprocity tax. It is an international agreement that responds reciprocally to the treatment Chilean citizens receive when they are taxed for entering a specific country, the same policy applies in Chile to citizens of the following origins on their entrance through International Police.

- Australia: US$ 61

- Canada: US$ 132

- United States: US$ 131

- Mexico: US$ 23

- Albania: US$ 30
