Leonardo Ramirez is one of the foremost flyfishing experts in Chile. He is an experienced guide and the creator of www.pescador.cl, which contains invaluable tips for flycatchers:

Favorite Venues:  In Lonquimay, Puerto Varas, Coyhaique, Puerto Natales and Tierra del Fuego there is good quality fishing because there are still places that have been well preserved throughout the years. The variety of lakes and rivers make of Chilean fly fishing not just a privileged sport, but fun and safe as well.

What to Wear: Through the years fly fishing outerwear and jacket designs have been developed for comfort and safety. Gore-Tex fabric is a high-tech fabric professionally designed to give layered, mesh-lined protection as well as comfort in rough weather conditions and for deep wading.

Permits: Fishing licenses can be obtained from the many specialized fishing and tackle stores throughout Chile. All you need to do is pay the specific fee charged in the Region, and then head out there and enjoy.
