Gabriela Mistral Museum in Vicuña


“There are two points on the earth/ they are Montegrande and Mayab/ as their edges burn/ they must be found” (work: Desolation). Verses like this one, personal letters, objects, books, and furniture belonging to the poetess and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, Gabriela Mistral, are showcased in this museum located in the Elqui Valley, where she was born. Located in Vicuña, 62 kilometers (38.5 miles) from the regional capital (La Serena), this space preserves Mistral’s legacy and some of her most beautiful poems.
