Itata Valley

It is the more austral wine-growing sub-region of the country that dates from the colonial time and conserves varietals brought by Jesuits priests and encomenderos (people that carried goods during the colony period). Their grapevines located in the plains, where coastal hills produce varieties such as cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay.
