Universidad de Chile

Higher education in Chile began with the creation of this university among others.  It is one of the oldest universities, dating back to 1842, with its first rector Don Andrés Bello.  This traditional state school offers undergraduate and graduate programs.  It has the largest populations of students in Chile and has six campuses and a medical clinic.  Its main campus was declared a national monument in 1974.
