Universidad de Santiago de Chile

Known in 1849 as the Escuela de Artes y Oficios and later as the Universidad Técnica del Estado, it is today one of the old universities in Chile.  In 1981 it was converted into an actual university.  It is a tradition state school that belongs to the Rector's Council.  It offers 58 degrees and has 18,000 students.  It has one large campus that houses six faculties and it can be identified by the Planetarium that is located on site.
