Chungará Lake


Chungará Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, situated at 4,570 meters above sea level, and famous for its elegant flamingos.  It belongs to the Lauca National Park, and is recognized as a biosphere reserve by Unesco.  Among its attractions is the impressive Parinacota Volcano.  Reaching 6,342 meters high, it calls the attention of hikers and visitors because of its permanently snow covered peak.
