Declared by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve, it is one of the most traditional areas of the central region and home to Chilean palms and oaks. It owes its name to a 1,920 meter hill of peculiar shape, once explored by Charles Darwin. Its closest entrance is only 112 kilometers (70 miles) from Santiago, and it has picnic areas and trails for walking, cycling or riding.
