Rapa Nui (Easter Island)

This island is known for its archaeological treasures, including nearly 900 anthropomorphic statues called moai, which climb 11 meters high. About half of the island is protected and has beaches with turquoise waters and fine white sand.  It also has three volcanoes, one of which houses a large lagoon in its crater.
