Elqui Valley

The Elqui valley is famous for its pisco, a local type of brandy distilled from white grapes.  The land of the valley is very fertile and produces a wide variety of fruit.  The valley normally has extremely clear skies that make an ideal location for observatories, including the Tololo, La Silla, and Mamalluca telescopes, the latter of which is the most open to tourism.  The valley begins just east of the city of La Serena and extends toward the Argentine border.  The valley is well known for its spirituality, making it a popular destination for meditation and relaxation.
