Cerros Alegre and Concepción

Cerros Alegre and Concepción were originally the homes of Valparaiso’s European settlers.  The name “Alegre” means joyful in Spanish and given to the hill because of its large, beautiful houses painted in the different bright colors.  This section of Valparaiso is especially known for its stairs and pathways, as well as, its restaurants like the famous Turri Café and Bohemian life.
