The capital city of Chile, Santiago, is the second best Latin American city to live. This was one of the conclusions of a study developed by The Economist Intelligence Unit.  The report placed Buenos Aires in first place in the region.

The study measures several factors such as infrastructure, stability, health, culture, security, education and environment.

About the Chilean city, the experts highlight the order, cleanness, security, infrastructure, and other aspects such as the institutional operation that the country has.

The Canadian city, Vancouver got first place in the general ranking for a second consecutive year. Other cities highlighted in terms of quality of life were Vienna, Austria and Melbourne, Australia. The study considers a scale from 0 to 100, 1 being intolerable and 100 optimal.

From a total of the 140 cities assessed, Santiago was ranked 64, just like in 2008. It even placed ahead of cities like Bratislava, Slovakia, and Saint Petersburg and Moscow in Russia. The Chilean city’s challenges are to improve the pollution rate and its urban planning.
