According to The National, a newspaper printed in English in the United Arab Emirates, Chilean Patagonia, with some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the world, now has the fifth best glass hotel in the world: the Remota, a luxury edifice located in Puerto Natales, in the extreme south of Chile.

The article, which includes the 10 best hotels in the world built of glass and other transparent materials, was written by journalist  Kitty Melrose under the title “The attractions are clear” and highlights the tourist offerings in paradisiacal settings, including Remota as the only South American representative mentioned among the top ten.

One of the aspects most emphasized by the author of the note is the singular architecture of the Chilean hotel, built 60% out of glass, with a notable roof covered with earth and wild grasses and a series of windows set askew, “as if bent by the area’s ever-blowing wind”, she states.

Special mention is made of the high degree of luminosity of the place, in particular in the common areas and the 72 guest rooms, as well as the detail of its architecture, which achieves a natural and historic balance in a spirit of total connection with the environment. As indicated in the Remota’s official website, this connection with the surroundings makes excursions to the area a pleasure all year round rather than a difficult undertaking.

The other hotels that appear in the publication are the Conrad Maldives Resort & SPA (Maldives), DO & CO Hotel (Vienna), The Yas Hotel (Abu Dhabi), Shakti 360 Leti (India), The Opposite House (China), Juvent Landscape Hotel (Norway), The Oitavos (Portugal), Hotel Habita (Mexico) and The Standard (New York, USA).

Prior to this, the magazine Travel+Leisure chose the Hotel W in Santiago, Chile’s capital city, as the best in the world.
