Chilean pianist leads free concert series in Puerto Montt

Roberto Bravo, one of South America’s most famous concert pianists, is putting on a unique live music series targeted at a student audience.

Music fans in Puerto Montt are in for a special treat. A free concert series organized by world-renowned Chilean pianist Roberto Bravo is taking the stage now through the end of June at the Teatro Diego Rivera in downtown Puerto Montt.

Titled “El Arte del Piano” or “The Art of the Piano”, the series aims to spread the teaching of this special instrument and share the magic of live piano performance through a variety of free concert options, from master classes to educational performances. The concerts will be performed by both professional musicians from across Chile and up-and-coming young Chilean pianists.

According to organizer Bravo, “El Arte del Piano” has something for everyone, and seeks to promote young talent. “There are 22 activities, 10 full concerts, 10 shows for students and 32 master classes. What distinguishes this festival is that I think there is nothing like it in Chile,” the musician told La Tercera.

Bravo is considered one of Latin America’s most talented musicians. The pianist began his career at the National Conservatory of Music in Santiago, and went on to continue his studies under various important artists in New York, Poland, Russia, and London. He has won multiple national and international competitions, performed live at some of the most important concert venues in the world, and recorded an extensive catalog of classical music CDs.

For Puerto Montt Mayor Gervoy Paredes, “El Arte del Piano” is a special opportunity for his city’s residents.

“We are pleased by this piano concert series, which is an extraordinary opportunity for residents of Puerto Montt, and especially for the students of municipal schools, who can enjoy this music performed by renowned pianists,” said Mayor Paredes.
