The Universidad Técnica Federico Santa Maria (UTFSM) was founded on April 27, 1926, in Valparaíso, Chile, fulfilling the last will of Mr. Federico Santa María Carrera, through the Foundation that bears his name. Santa María was a visionary entrepreneur who wanted to provide his hometown Valparaíso, with an institution for the teaching of science and technology for Chile and the world. Today, the UTFSM is home to more than 16,000 students, 44 undergraduate programs and 16 postgraduate programs. The founder’s mission is carried out in the main campus in Valparaiso, the Viña del Mar and Concepción Campuses, in addition to two campuses in Santiago, one in Rancagua and Guayaquil (Ecuador), and the Academy of Aeronautical Sciences - ACA - in Santiago. In terms of territory, these campuses make it the largest university in Chile.
