Chilean university is accredited in the United States

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) awarded the quality certificate to the institution of higher learning after it fulfilled 14 standards of excellence.

After a process lasting close to five years the Universidad Mayor became the first institution of higher education in Chile to be accredited for educational quality by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), a nongovernmental agency in the United States that evaluates and certifies quality at different universities around the world.

The MSCHE has certified 523 institutions from all over the United States and other countries like Canada, England, Italy and France, among which Princeton University, Johns Hopkins University and the State University of New York stand out. Currently 13 educational institutions are under evaluation.

Directors of the university - which currently has over 15,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students - hope that the accreditation will attract students with higher test scores. The certification will also benefit the university’s current students since they will be able to obtain undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from US universities.
