Peruvian cuisine gives extra kick to Chile’s top food festival
Espacio Food & Service 2012 will display the latest trends in Chilean gastronomy, and this year features a special pavilion devoted to the best of Peruvian pavilion.

Food lovers will be given one more reason to visit Santiago this month with Espacio Food & Service 2012, Chile’s premier gastronomic event, to be held in the capital from August 9-11.
This year’s event is expected to host to an even greater variety of cuisine than 2011’s inaugural festival, which drew 130 food stalls and an estimated 5,200 visitors.
And with 10,000 people expected to attend this year’s festival, it is well on the way toward achieving Commercial Director Andrés Ilabaca’s ambition of making Espacio Food & Service “the most important [food] festival in South America.”
Visitors will be able to sample diverse Chilean foods and beverages including; wines, liquors, fresh produce, dairy and meats, as well as traditional Chilean and Latin American desserts and ice-creams for those with a sweet tooth.
The 2012 event will be boosted by the addition of special guests Perú Gourmet - a separate pavilion of over 10,760 square feet (1,000 mt²) that will contain over 30 stalls and all of the richness and diversity of Peruvian cuisine.
Food and wine tasting, gastronomic competitions and folklore presentations will also take in the Peruvian pavilion over the course of the weekend.
Espacio Food & Service 2012 will also be an opportunity for chefs and restaurateurs to display the latest trends and innovation in equipment, services and products, and a number of seminars and talks by industry experts will also be included in the extensive program.
The event will be held at Espacio Riesco exhibition center, 5000 Avenida El Salto, Huechuraba in Santiago.
The inauguration will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, August 9. On Thursday and Friday the center will be open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, while on Saturday it will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
