Summer in Chile is approaching and it’s never too early to start making plans - especially when half-price tickets to the country’s premiere theater festival are involved.
This January, the Santiago a Mil festival will celebrate its 20th year of bringing theatrical performances to Chile’s capital. The festival includes performances from national and international artists and companies, and takes place throughout Santiago’s streets, theaters, and cultural centers. In recent years, the event has even extended to the cities of Valparaíso, Talca, Concepción and Antofagasta.
The 2013 installment of the festival will celebrate twenty years of Santiago a Mil’s impressive history. Over the past two decades, Santiago a Mil has put on over one thousand shows for over seven million audience members.
The festival recently announced its lineup of international performances, which will feature 18 productions from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia, Canada, United States, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, China and New Zealand.
Five of these shows are currently on sale this month at a 50 percent discount: “The centaur and the animal” (France), “The far side of the moon” (Canada), “The Tempest” (Russia), “Birds with skymirrors” (New Zealand) and “Travelogue I - Twenty to Eight” (Germany). These productions are taking place at either Teatro Municipal de Santiago or Teatro Municipal de Las Condes in Santiago.
Ticket prices range from US$8.50 (CLP4,000) to $53 (CLP25,000) with the discount, and are based on theater location and seating section. For a more detailed price breakdown, visit Santiago a Mil’s website.
The half-price promotion is valid through September 30, and from October 1–31 the discount will be 40 percent. Tickets can be purchased in person at Ticketek outlets (Falabella, Hoyts Cinema, The Knife) and on the Ticketek website. The discount is also available without a service charge from 16 September onward at the main box office at Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral.
