It’s already known as the most important festival for entrepreneurs in the United States. Now Common Pitch is coming to Latin America for the very first time, and its destination is Chile.
Far from just being about making money, the festival is a celebration of social responsibility, sustainability and innovation. Common Pitch Chile will be headlined by former U.S. vice-president, environmentalist and Nobel Prize winner, Al Gore.
Common Pitch co-founder Alex Bogusky defines the event as “the leading collaborative brand in the world for accelerating social change.”
“In the last century, everything was sold, from communal resources, like parks, water, air. . . and this is one of the hidden costs of capitalism,” said Bogusky, describing Common Pitch as being “on the front line of reinventing capitalism, so that it not only generates wealth, but positive changes as well.”
Other prominent speakers at Common Pitch Chile will include Charly Alberti, pioneer of online entrepreneurialism and former drummer of the renowned Argentinian rock band Soda Stereo, as well as Tom Chi, Experience Lead at Google X, David Cohen, founder and president of TechStars, and 21-year-old Argentine founder of Cuevana, Tomás Escobar.
Running from November 29 to December 1, the event will also include live performances from Devotchka - who performed the soundtrack for Little Miss Sunshine - as well as Devendra Banhart and Adanowsky, who will put on the "Common Pitch Acoustic Night" on November 30 in Santiago’s Teatro Caupolicán.
But the main event at Common Pitch Chile will be live pitches by the eight finalists in a competition for social entrepreneurs, which will award the winning project a US$35,000 prize.
