Six leaders of Chilean travel industry win World Travel Awards
Considered by many to be the most prestigious award system in the global tourism industry, the honor celebrates world-class resorts, hotels, and spas.

The results of the World Travel Awards are in, and six leading resorts in Chile are being celebrated for their contributions to the industry. The competition in Chile featured awards for the country’s Leading Hotel, Leading Boutique Hotel, Leading Business Hotel, Leading Resort, Leading Ski Resort, and Leading Spa Resort.
Considered by many to be the most prestigious award system in the global tourism industry, the World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all sectors of the industry. Both executives in the tourism business and individual consumers have the power to vote and nominate businesses for the awards, which are comprised of both regional-wide and country specific categories. This year, the World Travel Awards received over 790,000 votes from more than 170 countries.
A look at the winners
The title of Chile’s Leading Hotel has been awarded to The Ritz-Carlton Santiago. Located in the El Golf area of Santiago, this world-class facility is known for its excellent views of the Andes Mountains, and was also named one of the Top 10 Hotels in Latin and South America by Travel+Leisure Magazine.
The W Santiago was declared Chile’s Leading Business Hotel. The W offers a unique business center equipped with a range of secretarial and technical services for the wired traveler - not to mention a rooftop pool with Andes views.
Chile’s Leading Boutique Hotel has been awarded to Hotel Salto Chico, a lodge in the heart of the extraordinary Torres del Paine National Park in central Patagonia. Located on the banks of the Salto Chico waterfall, this hotel has its own horse ranch for exploring the park on horseback.
Villarrica Park Lake Hotel & Spa has won the title of Chile’s Leading Resort. Nestled on the banks of Lake Villarrica a few miles from Pucón, this resort is perfect for adventure-seekers, with options for fishing, hiking, skiing, and horseback riding.
The award for Chile’s Leading Ski Resort goes to Hotel Valle Nevado in the Andes Mountains. This ski resort offers three unique lodging options that can accommodate a range of budgets. All three locations offer easy access to the slopes and stunning panoramas of the snowy peaks.
Last but not least, Tierra Atacama in the Atacama Desert has been declared Chile’s Leading Spa Resort. In addition to offering massages, facials, body wraps, scrubs, and a variety of other treatments, this hotel enjoys an outdoor yoga platform with incredible views, a steam room, and plenty of beautiful spots to relax and rejuvenate.
