Mysteryland festival is back in Chile this December and promises to be every inch the success it was last year. With internationally acclaimed DJs playing to outdoor crowds in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Mysteryland is one of the most exciting and scenic festivals Chile has to offer.
The festival will run from December 14-16 in the picturesque hacienda of Picarquín, just 40 miles (65 km) south of the capital. Partygoers will be able to camp in the pastures, woods, and glades that lie between the area’s forested ravines and mountains.
Mysteryland began 18 years ago in Haarlermeer and is one of the Netherland’s most anticipated annual festivals. Chile’s inaugural installment last year drew a crowd of over 20,000, and staying true to the festival’s roots, did not break the promise of repeated 10-hour non-stop dance parties across its main stages.
Though dedicated to dance and electro music, Mysteryland extends invitations to bands of other genres from pop, to folk and funk. Here are some setlist highlights...
Many Chilean festival goers will be most excited by DJ Luciano’s return to the homeland. A regular fixture at European clubs from Berlin to Ibiza, this Santiaguino’s sound has been described as a blend of barebones techno and hot-blooded Latin rhythms. DJ Luciano will be playing the Vagabundos stage on Saturday December 15.
C-Funk, Sonido Acido and Juan Sativo
To fans of rock, Cristian Moraga will forever be known as the guitar-vocalist from already legendary Chilean band Los Tetas. To dance fans, however, he is also C-Funk, the DJ that has left an indelible mark on Chilean hip-hop and electro music. C-Funk will play in tandem with fellow Chilean DJs Sonido Acido and Juan Sativo at the Club de Baile stage on Saturday December 15.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Chilean music right now, Gepe blends modern electro pop with the wave of Chilean folk music that came to define a generation during the “Nueva Canción” movement of the 1970s. He’ll be playing at the Dollmusic stage on Saturday December 15.
The Dollmusic stage is dedicated solely to Chilean artists, and in addition to Gepe, fans can see country music/folk band Matís Cena & Los Fictions, indie bands Astro and Mecanico, rock group Oh Margot!, electronic music trio Makaroni, and more.
DJ Sander van Doorn
Sander van Doorn’s contributions to progressive house and trance music have helped earn him positions in the top ten of both DJ Magazine’s 100 Best DJs list and TranceAddicts Top 250 shows, as well as a residency at the world-famous Amnesia nightclub in Ibiza. Van Doorn headlines the Open Air Stage on Saturday December 15.
Headlining the Q-Dance stage on Saturday, this Dutch DJ team is currently ranked 11th on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 list and is widely considered to be the best hardstyle/hard dance DJ act in the world.
