Photo contest aims to capture the best of Chilean Patagonia

The world renowned dramatic landscapes of Chilean Patagonia continue to enchant visitors every year, and the region is one of the most photographed wilderness areas in the country.
If you are lucky enough to have taken photos of this magnificent destination you can now enter them into the Patagon Journal’s inaugural Patagonia photo contest. Anyone visiting the region before the January 31 deadline is also welcome to participate.
The contest is open to everyone from amateurs to professionals, and its aim is to celebrate the beauty of Patagonia.
Photographers are able to submit up to two photographs in each of the competition’s four categories:
Nature: wildlife, trees and plants, landscapes.
Environment: environmental dilemmas.
Travel and culture: images that reflect the region’s unique history, culture, and heritage. Images that capture a sense of place, showing the spirit and essence of Patagonia.
Outdoor sports: people enjoying the great outdoors, such as fly-fishing, trekking, climbing, biking, kayaking, and other diverse sports and activities.
The contest is open to pictures of both Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia.
Four first place pictures will be selected for each category and the photographer will receive a US$210 (CLP 99.409) Patagonia gift card.
All first and second place photos will be featured in an upcoming edition of the magazine, will be printed for display in an exposition at Mall Sport in Santiago in March 2013, and photographers will receive a one year subscription to the magazine.
A grand prize winner will be selected from the four first place finishers and will receive a three night stay for two people at Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa in Aysen, Patagonia a value of US$1,050 (CLP 497.042).
