This month the works of some of Chile’s best modern artists are on display in one of the world’s art hubs—New York City. Ten of the country’s gifted and innovative artists currently have their pieces featured as part of the “Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition” which runs until the beginning of October.

Works from Anita Martina, Bernardita Garib, Carmen Erazo, Constanza Villalba, Danisa Glusevic, Magdalena Errázuriz, Marisol Rosas, Natalia Garretón, Pauline Cristi C. and Sonia Koch are on display at the Agora Gallery in  NYC. The Chilean-based artists vary in medium, style, tone, and inspiration.

For instance, among the many oil paintings and and traditional mediums are the pieces by Marisol Rosas. Colorful, almost psychedelic abstract printouts of computer generated images fill the canvasses, creating a array of depth and emotions. Rosas, a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile who refers to herself as a digital artist, creates these pieces by combining her interest in animation and a focus on a variety of subjects.

In contrast are the works of Santiago-based Magdalena Errázuriz. By combining various images inspired by real life, Errázuiz creates her own world in a work of art.

“During the time I work on a specific project I rearrange and comprehend my feelings, experiences and ideas which are now loaded images,” Errázuriz says of her process. “Most of the experiences represented in my work bring along feelings and emotions to which people relate.”

The end result is a whirlwind of ideas, emotions, and images that blend into one another creating its own unique reality to be interpreted by the viewer.

The show features dozens of pieces by these Chilean artists demonstrating the wide depth of talent emerging from the Andean nation. The exhibit runs through October 1 at the Agora Gallery, located at 530 West 25th St, New York City. The Gallery is open Tues – Sat, 11a.m. - 6 p.m.
