There are various festivals that are celebrated in different regions throughout the year in Chile, as well as, holidays celebrated throughout the country.  The first one to mention are the fiestas patrias, or Independence Day, celebrated on the 18th and 19th of September with customary food and drink. The second most celebrated holiday is New Years Eve, especially in the streets of Valparaíso.  Tapatí on Easter Island and the La Tirana festival are other typical celebrations.  For more information, see the section on festivals.
