Chilean entrepreneur wins competition of innovative products

With support from ProChile, Corfo’s seed capital program, and the sponsorship of Santiago Innova, Almasol Wine Jellies won first place in the agricultural-food industry event.

The renowned Parisian fair SIAL: the Global Food Marketplace is an important business platform in the agricultural and food industry. Its top award is the SIAL d’Or, a distinction that is awarded to the most innovative food products in the world. This year the winner was none other than the Chilean businesswoman Dejanira Reglas, who surprised the jury with her novel product of “Almasol” WineJellies.
 
The winning companies were selected by 30 specialized magazines from all over the world and will have physical space available to them in the 2010 version of the SIAL Fair in Paris, which will be held on 17-21 October this year.
 
Mundo Retail, the magazine representing Chile at the fair , revealed nine national products with the virtues of innovation, good marketing support, and successful sales.
 
Some of the selected companies were Ariztía, Agrosuper, Colún, and the Kross brewery. For their part, the Almasol products represented Chile in the category of innovative businesses.
 
After this victory Almasol sales and marketing director Dejanira Reglas hopes to internationalize her products as the contest is a good showcase for exhibiting novelties in the food sector.
 
The winner had help from ProChile, Corfo’s seed capital program, and the sponsorship of Santiago Innova to position itself in the contest and to be exhibited overseas.
 
Currently Almasol exports to important markets like the United States, Poland and Brazil. Likewise, the brand has participated in the ANTAD fair in Mexico, SIAL in France and Fancy Food in the United States.
