Santiago is the safest capital city in Latin America according to several international studies. The latest Revista AméricaEconomía ranking on cities for doing business placed Santiago and Miami as the least dangerous for the item danger.

Chile's citizens, in contrast with other countries throughout the region, fully trust the country's institutions, to such an extent that Carabineros de Chile, the country's uniformed police, is one of the best citizen-evaluated institution in almost all public opinion studies.
