The harvest festival is a popular event focused on the culture and traditions of the countryside, especially in the central regions of the country. Preparations begin in the summer and conclude by the end of April. This year the main valleys of wine production in Chile will begin their activities on wine during March, attracting foreign visitors and local tourists.
The different versions of the harvest festival count with gastronomic tastings, traditional activities and, of course, wine tasting; a great opportunity for the vineyards to be known, and participants also expand their knowledge about Chilean wine production. Some of the festivals that stand out during the Chilean grape harvest is the Colchagua Valley Festival, the Curicó Valley, and the Casablanca Valley Festival.
Colchagua Valley Harvest Festival (4-5-6 of March)
The first of the festivities is organized by the Colchagua Vineyards Association together with the Municipality of Santa Cruz.There will be more than 150 award-winning wine-making proposals, in the middle of a schedule filled with activities such as the Queen Election, major music performances,expositions of craftsmanship and gastronomy, and even the presentation of the acrobatic parachuting squadron “Hawks” from Chile’s AirForce (Fach). Meanwhile the wine tasting and harvest season games will continue.
Curicó Valley Harvest Festival (March 17-18-19-20)
Over 100 thousand visitors are expecting this year’s festivity in Curicó, a festival with a long tradition of over 30 years of history. On this occasion the celebration will be very special and will feature wine tastings and great shows, with Chile as the guest country of honor. The celebration will include samples of gastronomy, craftsmanship, the Harvest Queen Election and the traditional grape stomping contest..
Casablanca Valley Harvest Festival (April 9-10)
Organized by the Association of Wine Entrepreneurs of Casablanca Valley, together with the Municipality of Casablanca, the festival will be held at the town’s Plaza de Armas. 10 vineyards will participate, offering wine tastings of their award-winning wine varieties. The activity is free of charge, with a chance get a ticket for three wine or sparkling wine tastings, along with culinary samples.
