Bio-entrepreneur Ester Sáez was selected among the 22 best endeavors to participate at Hit Barcelona, the World Innovation and Entrepreneurship Platform to be held 16-17 June in Barcelona, Spain.
Saéz was selected to compete at this event, which will bring together CEOs, chairpersons, innovation directors, entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers from all around the world thanks to her work at Cosmetofruit, a line of concentrated elixirs for health and skin beauty based on specific molecules of polyphenols and flavonoids extracted from Chilean berries and grapes, whose profile remains intact after the fruit is harvested.
Cosmetofruit is the flagship line of business for her company, Cosmetofood Chile SA. The secret of its success is that the wager is to leave behind topical cosmetics and approach cosmeceuticals, a trend currently being observed in both Europe and Asia. This line aims to seek for the beauty from within.
“Our research coordinated by Álvaro Olivera Nappa and Andrés Leschot, in line with state-of-the-art global know-how, indicate that talking about antioxidant effects is not very specific and is not related to any beneficial action, because physiological effects are specific consequences of the chemical characteristics and form of each specific molecule, regardless of its antioxidant power”, explains Sáez.
The Chilean entrepreneur added that each antioxidant molecule is different in terms of its effects, meaning that the source or processing of molecules is not indifferent: “drinking wine does not have the same advantages as drinking tea or eating blueberries or apples. The important thing when it comes to looking for effective actions is a product’s specific molecular composition”, she stated.
Winners of this contest, which also considers marketplace spaces in sectors such as telecommunications, cleantech, healthcare, electric vehicles, among others, will be selected by a jury made up of top-ranking executives from multinational companies and private investment fund representatives, will receive cash prizes and will be able to show their proposals to international investors (corporate investors, venture capitals).
Once again, a Chilean woman has been selected for a world-class entrepreneurship event. The enterpreneur María de la Luz Osses Klein was recently awarded for her work with biotechnological products to facilitate sustainable copper extraction.
