Twenty-five of Chile’s female singers have been confirmed for the fifth annual Rock Carnaza music festival that will take place over four nights at Valparaíso’s Municipal Theater later this month.
Beginning each night at 8pm, each of the free concerts will feature six artists, performing a total of more than 40 songs.
Among the stars to grace the stage in Valparaíso will be the rising star of Chilean rock and folk music, singer/songwriter Camila Moreno, who is currently in the process of recording her third album, and international pop sensation Javiera Mena.
Joining them on the stage will be Mariana Montenegro, vocalist for Chilean band Dënver, and María Fernanda Carrasco from La Mano Ajena, an eclectic local band that blends rock, punk, folk and theatrical music.
Other artists who have been locked in for the event include Rocío Peña and La Chinganera from Concepción; Gricelle Orellana, Rosario Salas and Pascuala Ilabaca from Valparaíso; and Vilú from the southern island of Chiloé, who will perform for the festival’s closing night.
Completing the line up will be a selection of Chile’s best emerging female singers such as Colombina Parra, María Colores, Evelyn Cornejo, Natalia Contesse, Francesca Ancarola, Paz Quintana, Vasti Michel, Tita Parra, Eli Morris, Rosario Mena, Natalia Molina, Soledad Domínguez, Magdalena Matthey, Catalina Claro and María Perlita.
Wednesday, November 16: Natalia Molina, Paz Quintana, Vasti Michel, María Colores, Evelyn Cornejo and Tita Parra.
Thursday, November 17: Rosario Salas, Gricelle Orellana, Natalia Contesse, Eli Morris, Rosario Mena and Camila Moreno.
Friday, November 18: Francesca Ancarola, Soledad Domínguez, Rocío Peña, Magdalena Matthey, Chinganera and Mariana Montenegro.
Saturday, November 19: Catalina Claro, María Perlita, Pascuala Ilabaca, María Fernanda Carrasco, Colombina Parra, Javiera Mena and Vilú.
