At the eyes of the experts, Chile is increasingly being considered as the best travel destination. This time one of the most popular and renowned travel magazines, the Lonely Planet, has declared our country as the top destination among its “Best in Travel 2018”.
Chile stands out as a unique country with a great array of landscapes, such as the Andes, the Atacama desert and our Patagonia. Santiago is also mentioned as one of the most modern and accessible cities due to its great connectivity. On this edition of Lonely Planet, it’s stated that “Thanks to new non-stop flights from both London and Melbourne, it’s never been easier to catch a plane, raise a glass of pisco sour and toast the celebration.”
The travel guide, that offers contents in over 14 languages and with more than 13 millions followers on different social networks, published this anticipated collection of 10 travel destinations not to be missed. Countries that must be on every traveller wish list and, Chile is on top of this list.
This recognition is also special in another way, due to the fact that Chile is the only South American country on this selection, and it stands out above the countries of South Korea, Portugal, Djibouti, New Zealand, Malta, Georgia, Mauritius, China and South Africa. Local authorities have claimed that “this recognition by Lonely Planet is for every Chilean person. It stands out for its natural beauty, but also for the quality of the hosts. This recognition follows another important award given by the World Travel Awards, as the South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination.
The annual selection of “Best in Travel by Lonely Planet” -which has concluded its 13th edition- takes into consideration the opinion of experienced travellers, hundreds of popular places around the world, and criteria such as current events, novelty and the wow factor in order to determine this travel journal.
A recognition that definitely highlights the diversity and charm of our national territory.
