With a view to showing what living in Chile is like, and to stimulate and disseminate the creativity of the country’s young people, Fundación Imagen Chile launched “Corto-Corto”, a competition of short films of up to one minute in length, with the theme “a Sunday in my city”.
The selected works will be screened at Expo Shanghai 2010 in as a way to offer its millions of visitors a look into the production of young Chilean filmmakers. In addition, the winning team will travel to Shanghai, while the second and third places will receive awards of 500,000 and 300,000 Chilean pesos, respectively.
“We call upon all young people to exhibit their creativity and, through it, contribute to the construction of an image of the country. Our cities have much to show the world in topics such as infrastructure, security, parks, geography and quality of life, among others, and Expo Shanghai is an excellent window in which to display these attributes”, commented Juan Gabriel Valdés, executive director of Fundación Imagen de Chile.
The contest is open to young Chilean people enrolled in careers linked to art and audiovisual communication, who may present productions in different genres (fiction, documentary, animation, among others) and in different formats, such as 35 mm, 16 mm, HD, video and digital.
The works will be received up to 20 July 2010. The results will be made public next September on the Fundación Imagen de Chile website.
