Several Chilean universities are ranked among the best in Latin America. In keeping with the same, university education services are certified by a specific entity. For example, Chilean business schools are ranked as the best in the region. Universidad Católica de Chile came second place in the 2009 ranking of the best business schools in Latin America by the magazine AméricaEconomía.
Chile’s state universities are especially outstanding, including Universidad de Chile or Universidad Católica de Chile, ranked among the 35 best universities in Latin America, according to SCImago. Both offer a wide range of top-notch undergraduate and post-graduate further education programs.
The 2008 THE – QS World University Ranking, which measures the quality of the best universities around the world, placed Universidad Católica as number 241 and Universidad de Chile as number 320.
Chilean universities are well-positioned within Latin America. According to Centro de Información y Documentación Científica (Cindoc), which is part of the largest national research center in Spain, a 2009 study shows that 10 of the leading 100 universities in Latin America are Chilean. Here is that list:
Universidad de Chile, Universidad Católica, Universidad de Concepción, Federico Santa María, Universidad de Santiago, Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad Diego Portales, Universidad Austral de Chile, Universidad de Talca and Universidad del Bío-Bío.
