According to the eighth Rothkopf Ranking, the Universidad de Chile is the one that most contributes to administration sciences and operations research outside the United States.
The study includes all of the universities in the main publications by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and classifies them based on two indicators: visibility and impact of their research.
The Universidad de Chile leads the ranking, both in terms of visibility as well as impact, among non-US institutions.
Meanwhile, inside the United States the Naval Posgraduate Scchool took first place in visibility, while the Colorado School of Mines received the highest score for impact.
The good results by the first university founded in Chile are to a great degree due to its Operation Management Center, whose members are also part of the Instituto Milenio de Sistemas Complejos de Ingeniería (ISCI).
The academics at the Operations Management Center seek to improve the management of both state organizations and companies and they have made numerous contributions in areas like forestry, the public sector, and the banking system.
