13 titles will compete in this category that considers first or second movies directed by a new generation of filmmakers. An international panel of judges chose the movies that are competing for the award, which will grant the winner a prize 50.000 euros.
“La madre del cordero” tells the story of Cristina (María Olga Matte), a 49-year-old woman who has spent her entire life taking care of her mother Carmen (Shenda Román). Cristina reunites with former classmate, Sandra, who, free of prejudices, will show her that there are others way to live. The film previously took part in the “work in progress” category in Viña del Mar Film Festival.
The San Sebastián Film Festival is one of the most important events in the European film industry and it is considered as the only A class film festival in Spain. The category Nuev@s Director@es (New filmmakers) was launched on 2013 with the aim of promoting “new cinematographic talent”.
The San Sebastián International Film Festival will take place from September 19 to September 27.
